Bulk cloning work items from JQL / Search
Bulk clone Jira issues from a JQL / Issue Search filter: select many issues and clone them with their fields and hierarchy in one action with Easy Clone.
Repetitive cloning is nobody’s idea of a good time. Whether you are preparing upcoming sprints, rolling out tasks across multiple projects, or replicating recurring work structures, copying issues one at a time, when you could clone multiple Jira issues at once, can feel like eating a pizza slice by slice… with five-minute breaks in between each bite.
That’s why Easy Clone for Jira Cloud now supports bulk cloning directly from the JQL / Issue Search page.
Why Bulk Cloning Matters
Jira users often rely on filtering to identify the exact set of tasks they need: high-priority issues, a specific Epic’s children, or every item tagged with a release version.
But once filtered… then what? Before this update, the answer was cloning each manually, the one-by-one grind we cover in native Jira clone vs Easy Clone. Over and over. And over.
Bulk cloning changes everything:
- ✅ Select multiple issues right from Search / JQL
- ✅ Clone them all in a single action
- ✅ Maintain existing fields and configurations
- ✅ Save minutes per task and hours per week
It’s workflow magic.
How It Works
- Filter your issues in Jira’s native work items Search / JQL
- Click Apps > Bulk Clone (Easy Clone)
- Confirm your clone settings
- Boom. Clones delivered.

The Feature You Asked For
Bulk cloning has been one of the most requested enhancements from our users, so we built it with love, precision, and far too much caffeine.
We’re thrilled to finally put it in your hands.
When to bulk clone from JQL vs from the issue view
Bulk cloning from JQL is the right tool when you already know the set you want: filter to it, then clone every match in one action. The issue view is better for one-off duplicates, or when you want to adjust each copy as you create it. If your goal is to clone multiple Jira issues at once, start from a JQL filter so the selection stays exact and repeatable. For just two or three related copies, cloning from the issue view keeps things simple.
FAQ
Can I bulk clone from a saved Jira filter? Yes. Run the saved filter (or any JQL) to load its results in Issue Search, then open Apps and choose Bulk Clone (Easy Clone) to clone everything the filter returns.
Does bulk clone keep sub-tasks and links? Yes. Easy Clone clones the whole hierarchy, so a story’s sub-tasks come across, and issue links are preserved too, along with fields and attachments.
Is there a limit on how many issues I can clone at once? Bulk clone is built for large selections and runs as a background job, so you can clone the full filtered set in one action. Very large runs simply take a little longer; if a job is huge, narrow your JQL or clone in a few filtered batches.
